DESCRIPTION
Made with our customary attention to detail, our beautifully Reeded Escutcheon plates are inspired by the best of Georgian design and have been made to compliment our Brass Reeded Door Knob range and Georgian window stays and latches.

The term escutcheon comes from the Latin for shield and was first used to describe shield shaped emblems on heraldry and coats of arms in Medieval Europe. Over time, as people wanted more privacy and the use of doors became more common, escutcheons were adapted to refer to the small, functional shields that were used to protect keyholes from wear and tear and banish draughts.

Shown above in our reflective nickel finish, this escutcheon is lovingly crafted from solid, natural brass that is nickel and chrome plated for a bright, slivery appearance. All Jim Lawrence products are made using traditional metal working techniques and are hand finished to the highest standards here at our Suffolk workshop.

''
Dimensions: 7H x2W (cms)
Finish: Nickel - Our nickel finish has a bright, silvery quality that is more akin to Chromium than many other nickel finishes available elsewhere. Its lustre is created by plating solid brass with highly polished nickel then finishing it with a flash coating of chrome that will add to its durability. Nickel is a versatile finish that works well with any colourway and natural building materials such as brick, stone, plaster or woodwork. It looks equally at home in a modern property as it does a period one and being highly reflective, will catch the light more than our painted finishes, so is great to use if you want to make a statement, as it will help draw your eye. For more information, please read our Product Finishes gu''ide.
