Hand forged from solid high grade steel that is beeswaxed for a soft black look, it also features dainty drip trays and a flush fitting backplate that retains the look of a traditional light. All Jim Lawrence lights are made using traditional metal working techniques and are hand finished to the very highest standards here at our Suffolk workshop. The Single Station has a compact, weighty quality that befits its handmade nature and is designed to suit modern and period properties. This is a flush fitting light so you may need to use an architrave box and reducer lid behind the backplate to hide the wiring if you cannot make a cavity in your wall - see Our Backplates Explained. We recommend our LED Clear Candle Bulb as the perfect accompaniment to your light as it is designed to replicate the traditional look of an incandescent bulb, lights up instantly, is dimmable and will flood your room with a soft warm light. The Single Station is not supplied with shades but we have a huge collection of handmade candle shades in a multitude of colours to find your perfect match. The metal is heated until it darkens and then dipped in natural beeswax which gives is a lovely soft black wrought iron effect which looks fabulous in any traditional or contemporary interior. As beeswax is a natural finish that reacts with the underlying metal during the forging process, it often has a subtle, slightly mottled patina with undertones of deep grey or ochre. It is not waterproof, so will need to be rewaxed occasionally.
