DESCRIPTION A classic hand crafted brass rim lock supplied with our beautiful Mews dropped handle for a traditional look to your door. Our Rim Lock design has a simple, old fashioned elegance that is ideal for interior doors and particularly suits period properties. Hand crafted from solid, natural brass that has been lightly antiqued for a subtle, aged look, these locks have a sturdy, tactile quality that befits their handmade nature and should last for years.Because rim locks are housed in a surface mounted box that is secured to the outside of your door, rather than inside it, they are not as secure as mortice locks and are not recommended on external doors as they can be easily removed. But they are an easy solution if your door is not thick enough to fit an internal locking system or if used on internal doors or outbuildings where security is less important. They are also a great way to add some period detail to your home. All Jim Lawrence products are made using traditional metal working techniques and are finished to the highest standards at our Suffolk workshop. You can pair your rim locks with our other brass door furniture to create a stylish, uniform look throughout your home.
