The Portland Standard Lamp incorporates a wonderful circular design in the stem which brings a touch of modern flair to an otherwise traditional floor lamp. Handcrafted from high quality forged iron and finished in beeswax, a process for darkening metal used since Tudor times, the Portland combines the best of old fashioned styling with modern design to ensure it will suit period and contemporary homes alike.
This standard lamp will provide much needed ambient lighting in any sitting room, bedroom, hallway or kitchen diner. All
Jim Lawrence products are made using traditional metal working techniques and are hand finished to the highest standards here at our Suffolk workshop. We recommend our

Beeswax: A traditional technique used since Tudor times. The metal is heated until it darkens and then dipped in natural beeswax which gives is a lovely soft black wrought iron effect which looks fabulous in any traditional or contemporary interior. As beeswax is a natural finish that reacts with the underlying metal during the forging process, it often has a subtle, slightly mottled patina with undertones of deep grey or ochre. It is not waterproof, so will need to be rewaxed occasionally.
