All Jim Lawrence products are made using traditional metal working techniques and are finished to the highest standards at our Suffolk workshop. The Norfolk is made from high quality steel that has been Beeswaxed for a soft, black, rustic quality that will enhance the look of your doors. It is also available as a latch set and a smaller drawer pull version for your cupboards and drawers. Kindly note, we do not recommend the beeswax finish for bathrooms or outdoor use, as it may rust in a humid environment. We feel that Matt Black is the preferable option. The metal is heated until it darkens and then dipped in natural beeswax which gives is a lovely soft black wrought iron effect which looks fabulous in any traditional or contemporary interior. As beeswax is a natural finish that reacts with the underlying metal during the forging process, it often has a subtle, slightly mottled patina with undertones of deep grey or ochre. It is not waterproof, so will need to be rewaxed occasionally.
