DESCRIPTION Our Hammered Door Pull is a generously sized, forged iron handle finished in Beeswax for a traditional touch to your door. Handmade here at our Suffolk workshop, the door pull has been hammered using traditional blacksmithing techniques to achieve a rustic, gently uneven surface which feels as good in your hand as it looks on your door. All Jim Lawrence products are hand crafted using traditional metal working techniques and are finished to the highest standards at our workshop. This door pull is made from solid, high quality steel that is beeswaxed for a soft black look. Beeswax is a finish that has been around since Tudor times and gives the metal a lovely black mottled patina that suits modern and period homes alike. We do not recommend the beeswax finish for bathrooms or outdoor use, as it may rust in a humid environment. We feel that Matt Black is the preferable option. TIPS FOR FITTINGDrill a pilot holeSee our Screw Fitting Guide FINISH Beeswax: A traditional technique used since Tudor times. The metal is heated until it darkens and then dipped in natural beeswax which gives is a lovely soft black wrought iron effect which looks fabulous in any traditional or contemporary interior. As beeswax is a natural finish that reacts with the underlying metal during the forging process, it often has a subtle, slightly mottled patina with undertones of deep grey or ochre. It is not waterproof, so will need to be rewaxed occasionally. To find out more about our finishes and how best to maintain them, please read about Caring for Beeswax in the Jim Lawrence Knowledge Base.
