DESCRIPTION Our stunning Chester Door Handle range takes its inspiration from a heritage of great British design, incorporating traditional faceted detailing with the best modern materials and handcrafted skills to produce a great quality handle that will look fabulous for years to come.The Chester is a classic handle available in a variety of back plate styles and our forged iron and antiqued brass finishes to ensure it suits any style of door. The Ripley back plate has straight, bevelled edge and double coved detailing for a classic touch to your door. All Jim Lawrence products are made using traditional metal working techniques and are hand finished to the very highest standards at our Suffolk workshop. This Chester is made from high quality forged iron that has been traditionally beeswaxed for a soft black look and has a wonderful weighty quality that befits its handmade nature.The handles are supplied as a pair with back plates and fixing screws in the same finish. The metal is heated until it darkens and then dipped in natural beeswax which gives is a lovely soft black wrought iron effect which looks fabulous in any traditional or contemporary interior. As beeswax is a natural finish that reacts with the underlying metal during the forging process, it often has a subtle, slightly mottled patina with undertones of deep grey or ochre. It is not waterproof, so will need to be re-waxed occasionally.Kindly note, we do not recommend the beeswax finish for use in a humid environment, as it is harder to maintain and may rust.
