DESCRIPTION Our stunning Chester Door Handle range takes its inspiration from a heritage of great British design, incorporating traditional faceted detailing with the best modern materials and handcrafted skills to produce a great quality handle that will look fabulous for years to come. The Chester is a classic handle available in a variety of back plate styles and our forged iron and antiqued brass finishes to ensure it suits any style of door. The Nowton back plate pairs a bowed top and bottom with straight, bevelled edge for a classic touch to your door. All Jim Lawrence products are made using traditional metal working techniques and are hand finished to the very highest standards at our Suffolk workshop. This Chester has a plain back plate made from high quality forged iron that has been traditionally beeswaxed for a soft black look and has a wonderful weighty quality that befits its handmade nature. The handles are supplied as a pair with back plates and fixing screws in the same finish. They are sprung on both sides and with a 75mm spindle that can be cut down to the depth of your door. We can supply a 90mm spindle upon request. The metal is heated until it darkens and then dipped in natural beeswax which gives is a lovely soft black wrought iron effect which looks fabulous in any traditional or contemporary interior. As beeswax is a natural finish that reacts with the underlying metal during the forging process, it often has a subtle, slightly mottled patina with undertones of deep grey or ochre. It is not waterproof, so will need to be rewaxed occasionally. Kindly note, we do not recommend the beeswax finish for use in a humid environment, as it is harder to maintain and may rust.
