As pretty as they are practical, these traditional butterfly hinges will work to secure any door in your home. Nothing sums up the look and feel of a period home than the classic, handcrafted metalwork that was used to adorn it. In an age when adornment was unaffordable for most, blacksmiths designed home fittings to be as decorative as they were practical, so these hinges will not only look good on your doors, but should last for many years to come.
Shown above in our polished finish, this butterfly hinge is made in our forge and then painted in polished for a gunmetal, polished steel finish that suits modern and period interiors. All Jim Lawrence products are made using traditional metalworking techniques that have been passed down through the generations and are hand finished to the highest standards at our Suffolk workshops.
Our butterfuly butt hinges are suitable for hanging most sized doors as well as cabinets and trunk or chest lids. Generally used in pairs and fitted to the top and bottom of your door, you may need to use a third in the middle for larger or heavier doors.
- Supplied with fixing screws in the same finish
- When fitting, we recommend you drill a pilot hole – or small starting hole - for each screw first. For more advice, please see our Screw Fitting Guide >
