All Jim Lawrence products are made using traditional metal working techniques and are hand finished to the very highest standards at our Suffolk workshop. This Bromley is made from high grade steel that is beezwaxed for a traditional, rustic look and has a wonderful weighty quality that befits its handmade nature. The handles are supplied as a pair with back plates and fixing screws in the same finish. They are sprung on both sides and with a 75mm spindle that can be cut down to the depth of your door. We can supply a 90mm spindle upon request. Kindly note: We do not recommend our beeswax finish for bathrooms or outdoor use as it may rust in a humid environment. Instead, we suggest Matt Black. PRODUCT INFORMATION Backplate Dimensions: 15H x 5W x 5.7D (cms)Plate: A plain plate is used for any door where a lock is not required.FINISH: BEESWAX - A traditional metalworking technique used since Tudor times. The metal is heated until it darkens and then dipped in natural beeswax which gives it a lovely soft black wrought iron effect that looks fabulous in any traditional or contemporary interior. As beeswax is a natural finish that reacts with the underlying metal during the forging process, it often has a subtle, slightly mottled patina with undertones of deep grey or ochre. It is not waterproof, so will need to be re-waxed occasionally. For more information, and cleaning tips, see our Product Finishes page.
