Achieve the quintessential country cottage look to your home with our beautiful hand-forged Suffolk T Hinges in a choice of lengths and finishes for the perfect finish. Nothing sums up the look and feel of a period home than the classic, handcrafted metalwork that was used to adorn it. In an age when adornment was unaffordable for most, blacksmiths designed home fittings to be as pretty as they were practical, so these heavy duty hinges will not only look good on your doors, but should last a lifetime.
Shown above in our beeswax finish, this hinge is made in our forge and then dipped in hot beeswax for a classic soft black finish that has been used since Tudor times. All Jim Lawrence products are made using traditional metalworking techniques that have been passed down through the generations and are hand finished to the highest standards at our Suffolk workshops.
These 30cm Suffolk hinges are a combination of strap and butt hinges, suitable for hanging most sized doors as well as cabinets and trunk or chest lids. Generally used in pairs and fitted to the top and bottom of your door, you may need to use a third in the middle for larger or heavier doors.
- Supplied with fixing screws in the same finish
- When fitting, we recommend you drill a pilot hole – or small starting hole - for each screw first. For more advice, please see our Screw Fitting Guide >
We do not recommend the beeswax finish for bathrooms or outdoor use, as it may rust in a humid environment. PRODUCT INFORMATION
Dimensions: 32.5W (30cm strap & 2cm butt) 13H (cms)
Finish: Beeswax - A traditional metalworking technique used since Tudor times. The metal is heated until it darkens and then dipped in natural beeswax which gives it a lovely soft black wrought iron effect that looks fabulous in any traditional or contemporary interior. As beeswax is a natural finish that reacts with the underlying metal during the forging process, it often has a subtle, slightly mottled patina with undertones of deep grey or ochre. It is not waterproof, so will need to be re-waxed occasionally. For more information please see our
