DESCRIPTION
Our dormer rods are designed to be used in recessed windows or where you have no room to attach a front facing curtain pole. The poles are made from high quality forged iron and will swing back on the bracket to let in the maximum amount of light. You can use a single dormer across the full width of a window or have two that meet in the middle.

Dormer rods can be side or front fixed, and attached to the window frame or adjacent wall. Please ensure you have a strong fixing point and if you are not sure, speak to your builder or installer first.
  • For wider windows or where you are using heavy curtains, we recommend using a support bracket to stop the rod dropping at one end.
  • If you are looking to cover a doorway, we recommend our range of 12mm Portiere Rods that are fixed at both ends.
Dormer length guide
FACE FITTING - Measure from where you would like your rod to end to the centre of the sleeve bracket. The bracket is 4cm wide.
SIDE FITTING - Measure from your wall to where you would like your dormer rod to end.

For a guide on how to measure our dormer rods, please see:
Guide to Our Made-to-Measure Dormer Rods >
  • These dormer rods are available in two sizes – 12mm or 16mm – and in a number of finishes to suit your interior.
  • The maximum recommended length is 120cm.
  • If you need a rod over 100cm, depending on the weight of your curtain fabric,  you will probably need a support bracket > at the other end to prevent the pole from dropping slightly.
  • For lengths over 120cm we recommend using a curtain pole and brackets.

RINGS

These are purchased separately. We recommend the 12/20mm Classsic Twist Rings are the best match for this dormer rod, but you can see the recommended accessories above for some other suggesstions, or browse our collection of curtain rings. We generally suggest 1 ring to every 7cm of pole but you may want more if your curtain fabric is heavy.

FINISH

Polished: This really showcases the stunning natural patina of polished steel and is a great choice for a contemporary home or to update a traditional one. To produce the finish, we coat our steel products in a metallic lacquer that apes the texture and patina of iron and gives the product great character that looks wonderful with a grey or natural colourway and works particularly well with other metallic finishes such as nickel. It also looks great against natural building materials such as brick, stone, plaster and woodwork.
