DESCRIPTION Our dormer rods are designed to be used in recessed windows or where you have no room to attach a front facing curtain pole. The poles are made from high quality forged iron and will swing back on the bracket to let in the maximum amount of light. You can use a single dormer across the full width of a window or have two that meet in the middle and they can also be used over doorways with the aid of a support bracket to stop it dropping at one end.Length FACE FITTING - Measure from where you would like your rod to end to the centre of the sleeve bracket. The bracket is 5cm wide.SIDE FITTING - Measure from your wall to where you would like your dormer rod to endFor a guide on how to measure our dormer rods, please see:Guide to Our Made-to-Measure Dormer Rods >These dormer rods are available in two sizes – 12mm or 16mm – and in a number of finishes to suit your interior. The maximum recommended length is 120cm. If you need a rod over 100cm, depending on the weight of your curtain fabric, you will probably need a support bracket > at the other end to prevent the pole from dropping slightly. For lengths over 120cm we recommend a portiere rod or curtain pole and brackets.Kindly note, we do not recommend the beeswax finish for use in a humid environment, as it is harder to maintain and may rust. We feel Matt Black is a preferable option.SIDE OR FRONT FIXING?Side fixed: fixed to the adjacent wall.Face fixed: fixed to the same wall as the window.Web orders: If you wish to place your order online, please use the 'Order Instructions' box under 4. Additional Information on the checkout page to add 'side fixing' or 'face fixing'.Phone orders: Please call our helpful sales team on 01473 826685 to obtain a quote or discuss your requirements.RINGSThese can be purchased by clicking on 'Recommended Accessories'. We generally suggest 1 ring to every 7cm of pole but you may want more if your curtain fabric is heavy.FINISHBeeswax: A traditional technique used since Tudor times. The metal is heated until it darkens and then dipped in natural beeswax which gives is a lovely soft black wrought iron effect which looks fabulous in any traditional or contemporary interior. As beeswax is a natural finish that reacts with the underlying metal during the forging process, it often has a subtle, slightly mottled patina with undertones of deep grey or ochre.
