Our fused switch plates are all made with a slimline brass or steel backplate that sits flush against the wall, with either a straight bevelled edge for a sleek, modern look to your home, or an uneven, hammered edge for a more rustic feel.Fused switches, also known as fused spurs, are used for appliances that need to be installed without a plug, or on a separate cable from the ring main for safety purposes. A double pole (DP) fused switch includes an additional isolation device making it an even safer type of switch to use. All Jim Lawrence products are made using traditional metal working techniques and are hand-finished to the very highest standards here at our Suffolk workshop.Kindly note: Please ensure paint & plaster is completely dry before fitting beeswax switches and sockets to a wall. Our switches are designed to sit flush against the wall so any residual moisture might tarnish the finish. The metal is heated until it darkens and then dipped in natural beeswax which gives it a lovely soft black wrought iron effect that looks fabulous in any traditional or contemporary interior. As beeswax is a natural finish that reacts with the underlying metal during the forging process, it often has a subtle, slightly mottled patina with undertones of deep grey or ochre. It is not waterproof, so will need to be re-waxed occasionally.Kindly note, we do not recommend the beeswax finish for use in a humid environment, as it is harder to maintain and may rust. We feel Matt Black is a preferable option.
