Our candle shades are all fitted with a wire candle (butterfly) clip that is designed to sit directly on top of a small bayonet (SBC, B15) candle bulb so that they fit snugly to our collection of wall lights.
We make five different styles as shown in the image on the left:

  • French Drum Candle Shades
  • Cylinder Candle Shades
  • Empire Candle Shades
  • Cone Candle Shades

Tapered candle shade

Tapered

These are the smallest shades we make and are designed for chandeliers, multi-armed pendant lights and our smaller wall lights, like the Rowsley, where the arms are relatively close together and look better topped with a small shade.
  • These are 9.5cm wide at the bottom
  • 9cm high.
French drum candle shade

French Drum

Our collection of French Drum candle shades make a contemporary alternative to the more common Empire shades as they are less sloped and a little narrower. They look particularly good with any of our traditional wall lights.
  • These shades are 13cm wide
  • 11cm high.
Cylinder candle shade

Cylinder

The straight sided Cylinder Candle shades are the most modern looking in the range and are a great way to update a fitting.
  • They are 9cm wide
  • 12.5cm high.
Empire candle shade

Empire

By far the largest collection in our candle shade range, our Empires are the most popular as they suit the vast majority of our wall lights and multi-armed pendants.
  • They are 15cm wide
  • 12cm high.

FAQs

Can I use it with a bigger bulb?

You can only use our candle shades with a candle shaped bulb as the butterfly clip will not sit neatly on a more 'bulbous' shaped round or classic shaped bulb. It does not matter if the candle bulb is a SBC (B15) size or an ES screw fitting type (E14) as this does not effect the shape of the bulb.

How big should my shade be?

For useful information about sizing shades for a lamp base see our Knowledge Base Guide - How to size for a Table Lamp
  • The width of your shade should be equal to the height of your base.
  • The height of your shade should be two thirds the height of your base (divide the base height by 3).
  • Your shade should be wider than the widest part of your base.

What if I want a different fabric?

We can make any of our  candle shades in any of our fabrics as a bespoke item. Please contact our helpful customer service team to raise a quote. We may also be able to make any of our shades in your own fabric, we just ask that you send in a swatchfirst so that we can be sure it is suitable.

How much light will be let through?

Generally, the lighter the colour and weave of the fabric, the more light the shade will allow through. The darker and heavier the fabric, the more the light is channelled through the top and bottom of the shade. For useful information about fabrics andtheir use as shades, see our Knowledge Base guide - Lampshades FAQs
