Cranked and straight door bolts
What is the difference between cranked & straight door bolts?
Straight Bolt
A straight bolt, like the ones shown, has a straight shank that is designed to fit onto doors where the frame is fixed flush with the door so the bolt can easily slide across to the mortice and keep.
Cranked Bolt
A cranked bolt has a 'step' in its shaft which allows it to fit across a door frame which sits proud of the door (the door is recessed to the frame) to fit into the mortice and keep.
